The 2007 season has been eventfull, but relatively slow on the grouse. Birds are more skiddish than in past years, but the woodcock flights are coming through providing lots of good dog work! The warm fall allowed for leaves to remain on the trees longer than usual, but the leaves are now falling and the ferns are wilting...should be some good hunting to come. In addition, the annual IOWA pheasant hunt is rapidly approaching. Mixed reports from IOWA leave reason for some concern regarding the bird numbers, but several seasoned GSP's and EP's should provide more than the average number of opportunities currently being forecasted.
